    Two Guys from Mexico City

    (1)

Friday morning, for the first time, we didn’t bring our training handouts. Normally, each morning the trainers distributed new handouts for the day and rarely we refered to anything from previous handouts. Plus, the binder carrying those handouts isn’t light. So, left the binder behind in the hotel seemed to be a smart decision, which I really went for it.  Just not too long after we arrived at the training room, it turned out be an assessment day per the training schedule (I overlooked it), and the written test was an open-book test…

Suddenly awoke around 1am this morning as I was hearing some familiar thrilling score from an unknown source.  Took me 1.5 seconds to confirm that must be the signature tone from Hitchcock’s masterpiece “Psycho” (1960) when those classic “stabbing” scenes appear; and yet “why I’m hearing this?” questioned myself.  Was that just a bad dream or something?   Then an illuminating object right at the top end of my bed attracted me, it was 45-inch LCD panel  running with a preview of “Psycho” on AMC channel --that was the channel I watched before went to sleep.  It must have been turned off already as I recalled… Who turned it on then?

A few seconds after, it was found that the TV remote-control was right beneath one of my arms.

There were two associates, one is named Cesar and the other one is Pedro, from Mexico City studying with us in the same training room as well as staying at the same hotel.   Very conveniently we befriended because of that, and sometimes they gave us a ride to commute between two locations.

Stanley and I were taking a walk in fine breezy night after dinner one day, when turned around a corner approaching hotel parking lot, we found Cesar was smoking all alone over there. So we started to chat, around the topics of languages, foods, individual life, etc. before going back upstairs. The whole process turned out to be a fine exhilarating cultural exchange event, we all liked it. And a Russian Canadian girl named Gania, also joined us with her beer sometimes. Very quickly, that parking lot behind the building became our secret meeting place almost every night for our little “secrete society” that I yet haven’t given a name

Those two amigos brought us to a Mexican restaurant on Friday night for had a real authentic Mexican tasty experience.  So finally I saw some real foods (e.g. tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas etc) different from Taco Bell (or Taco Hell) and other so called Mexican restaurant provided.  “Taco Hell” Tacos were only good for Chi wa-wa, per our Mexicans comments.

Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my camera with me and even didn’t take a single picture those days.

Watched Quentin’s new work “Inglorious Bastards” the very next day after I arrived at BTV, and it wasn’t as good as I thought.   “District 9”, to the contrast, has been receiving unbelievable fabulous comments which I didn’t’ notice until Chad, an American acquaint/associate, recommended it. The ranking of the film appears extremely high on IMDB also. With that said, this piece now is officially on my schedule of the weekend.
